How to check a Dubai agency (ORN) or broker (BRN)

Updated 14 October 2026 · Checked against official sources

Before you join an agency, or before you trust a broker, take two minutes to check their licence. In Dubai, two numbers matter:

NumberWhat it identifies
ORN (Office Registration Number)A licensed real estate brokerage
BRN (Broker Registration Number)An individual broker who holds a broker card

A broker card is issued by the Dubai Land Department (DLD), and its validity is linked to the trade licence of the agency the broker works for.

Check with the Dubai REST app

Dubai REST is the official real estate app of the Dubai Land Department.

  1. Open the app and go to the real estate services section, then the list of registered brokers.
  2. Search by name, BRN, agency name or ORN.
  3. Check that the status is Active and look at the licence expiry date.
  4. For a broker, compare the profile photo with the person you are dealing with, and check that the agency shown matches the agency they say they work for.

Menu names can change between app versions. If you cannot find the section, search the app for “brokers”.

Check on the DLD website

The DLD website also lets you search brokers and developers by name, registration number or trade licence number.

Check a property advertisement

A legal property advertisement in Dubai shows the broker’s BRN and the agency’s ORN. Off-plan advertisements also show the project’s permit number. If an advertisement has an official QR code, scan it to reach the verification page.

On CloserPass

Agencies that claim their page on CloserPass must provide their ORN, and we check it against the public register before they can publish jobs. A “Verified” badge on CloserPass means “checked on the public register”, not “endorsed by the DLD”. CloserPass is not affiliated with the Dubai Land Department.

Checked on the date shown above. Always rely on the official Dubai REST app or the DLD website for the final answer.
